18 years ago, I fed my first stray cat. I have a soft spot for animals, especially cats because they are the mildest, yet most often abused animal in Singapore.
I ended up spending my pocket money buying cat food and I carried a lunchbox of cat biscuits in my school bag throughout secondary school. I'd feed the strays in my neighbourhood after school, or any other cat that I had bumped into along the way.
My dad got into the act as well, and he even went a step further to help sterilise the cats in our area, most of the time out of his own pocket. Mind you, we are a low-income family - but we could not bear to see the animals suffer.
18 years on, I feed the occasional stray that looks malourished wherever I may be. I feel bad but I no longer have the time having to take care of both kids and work at the same time. My great father still feeds the remaining 2 or 3 cats in our neighbourhood every day.
I still shout at people up for kicking cats - some asshole living on the sixth floor kicked a black kitten into the drain recently and I was so mad I rang the police. Don't make me continue my story. Just know that those Malay teens run and hide when they see me now. Son of the fucking bitch.
So anyway, I would like to ask you to make a donation, or volunteer your services with Cat Welfare Society. Please don't disregard kitties - they are afterall, living creatures like you and me.
